Week Nine: Friends and Fun.....

Thanks to the folks who added their name to the mailing list and a big THANK YOU to everyone for coming out to spend some time with us at Horseworks studio!!

I spent the week painting all of the brown areas of the horse. Multiple shades applied in layers will help to give his coat realistic depth and lustre.

It looks pretty silly at first....

...but after a some work, it begins to look pretty nice!
A close-up view shows the realistic effect created by the multi-tonal paint layering. It is a rather time-consuming techinique...but I think it is worth the effort.
The horse appeared almost life-like as we prepared for Open Studio....One little girl wondered how we got a horse to stand so still. And more than one visitor commented that it was a little freaky that his eyes seem to look directly at them!
